You know you thrift a lot when......

* Shop volunteers know you by name.
* Shop workers set things aside for you.
* You plan your week and think to yourself will there be an op shop or thrift local to duck into whilst I run errands.
* You have an excessive amount of market bags.
* You take your market or granny trolley on thrifting, market, car boot sale outings.

* When your regular response to a compliment about an outfit you're wearing is: Awww thanks I bought it op shopping.
* When your friends keep asking you how you look so stylish on so little outlay.
* You baulk at the price of something retail and are convinced you can find the same or similar at a thrift store for a fraction of the cost.

* You will hold out on a purchase until you find it thrifting to save a buck rather than pay retail.
* When family members and friends label you a tight arse.

* When everything you look at you're looking for upcycle and recycle potential.
* When stepping in a mall or chain store bores you seeing the same thing over and over again
* When your three year old asks: Are we going to the op shop today mummy?
* When family and friends start to ask to come op shopping with you in hopes that your treasure hunting talents rub off of on them.
* When your complete outfit with accessories costs you less then lunch at a cafe.

You might also have developed other serious habits which should be monitored as they could develop serious and life long symptoms. These include:
* Stalking other op shop customers, whilst using mind control techniques in hopes they will put back the much desired item they have in their clutches, so you can pounce on it.
* You hide an awesome find in another part of the store in hopes no one else will find it until you can get to the bank and back with money or call a friend to grab it.
* You know your local op shops "new old stock" delivery days and plan your visits around them.
* When you plot a getaway or holiday around what op shops/thrifts will be around to check out.

Finally if you find yourself feeling anxious because you haven't been thrifting all week, so you decide at somewhere near midnight a spot of eBay action or the likes wouldn't hurt; you then my friend have a serious problem and there is no doubt you are a TRIFT-a-HOLIC. The unaccustomed would say seek help, but I say CARRY ON, as you were.

  1. LOL Very good list Trudie. I'm afraid to say I can tick a lot of those boxes. LOL I'm not sure they know my name at my stores but I've been guilty of hiding things until I can back to them. LOL

  4. Finding that perfect bargain is a narcotic thrill! I only wish there were some decent op shops around here. The local Vinnies is charging $20 per item. I'd may as well go to Target.
