Furry Little Vower's Bed.......

I have wanted to give my fur baby some new bedroom decor for ages now, after seeing the idea off a suitcase bed.
Why not right? Everybody with fur or not deserves a little pretty in their life.
So I set about making it happen, with this vintage Samsonite suitcase I picked up along with it's big brother from my favourite oppy last year for $5 for the two.

I've seen people go all out with these suitcase dog beds, cutting timber to size to put in proper little slates for a pillow or custom cut mattress to sit upon. Not that I don't love my wee Jada but, sometimes you got to make the job a little more simple to get it done, right?
So I literally did up the elasticised straps to sit the bed "mattress" on and raise it up a bit. Then here comes the difficult bit......I literally plonked Jada's existing bed on top. I slipped her old bed into a pillowcase from my collection, grabbed a pastel green baby blanket (I have so many that have been handed on to us).
The lacing bunting (if you want to call that) is an off cut from my sewing stash. The embroided cat is from a baby pillowcase that was severely stained and couldn't be salvaged for use as a pillowcase. The small oval embroiders hoop was in my stash and the little bell on top of the oval is from one of those Lindt bunnies from Easter. Again the sunflower and the gift tag "Home Sweet Home" were all my creative supplies stash.

Tick, another little project off my creative/decorating to-do list.
Tell me though, do you make things a little (or a lot) special for your furry babes? If you've blogged about it, I'd love to know and pop over to have a look, so leave me a link if you have!

Nothing like pottering around like a nana....

You've all heard my grumbles of late with the sick bugs infesting anything and anyone that moves in this house at present. The weekend just passed forced us to have a quiet weekend around home pottering and it appears as though that mood stayed with me somewhat today. Master V was home today from Family Day Care. Why? Yep that's right he is sick now. So with it being a gloomy day outside we've stayed indoors in the warmth. The Little Vowers have played and I've pottered like a nana.

I've been shifting things around, playing with little vignettes, trying new things. Trying to bring on a new lease of life, a new feel about the place.

It's time, we keep falling into the trap of not getting things the way we want around home. I have so many little projects, for around our abode and I just keep adding them to my to-do list. Today has been all about giving it a go, seeing how it looks, seeing if the Big V digs it too.

What have you pottered about doing today?

Flea Market Finds, of the frocky kind.........

I feel like I'm falling behind to keep up with showing off all my recent treasures over the last few weeks. It's been a great few weeks with gifted treasures and op shop finds. This week though I've next to no time to indulge in thrifty behaviours with Little V unwell. Mind you she is all perked up now, but would you believe she is now teething and Master V has played tag team and is coughing up a storm.
Despite all that I was able to sneak out Friday for about half an hour and my efforts and patience in building my wardrobe (story behind why, I shared here) and I nabbed two beauties for my wardrobe.

Since this a rather momentous moment for me (ok I'm being a little dramatic) I thought I'd get all gussied up...well sort of. Both dresses are a little large for me, hence belting them in. I'm in two minds about getting them taken in properly or leaving them as is, since I find it hard to style the way I want when I'm pregnant. Hold on to horses people......that's not a pregnancy annocument, though I better set you all straight, so what I will say is that the Big V and I aren't finished adding Little Vowers to this clan.
Anyways here are the beauties. This first one is actually an old local label where I live on the Gold Coast, Queensland Australia the label is ironically called "Goldie". I've styled it up with a white long sleeve basic tee, thrifted belt and boots bought retail.......and to think I was going to off load the boots recently.
Then we have this beauty and I am all sorts of smitten over this dress. When I got her home and tried her on and saw the colours against my skin and hair, we fell in love with one another. I just styled her with my trusty old thrifted blue belt. It is an old "Casual Trends" labels I've seen many a dress from this label on vintage racks but none so nice as this. I look forward to playing around with styling her more and hope I can pull off a layered look for these cooler months.

These two dresses and of course other odds and ends I picked up didn't even see me break a tenner.........yay.

Linking up with the glowing Sophie.

Surprises for me, surprises for you {Mini Giveaway}.......

As many of you know I had an awesome score last weekend with treasures, some of which I showed off for Flea Market Finds. You might've also caught that I unearthed a treasure I didn't know I had amongst one of the bundles I got. Anyways what I DIDN'T know is that there were also other fun things that came home with me in my treasure bundles.

Scraperboards, they even come with a instruction pamphlet and a booklet with tips and techniques. There were no tools to be found in the bundle but a quick eBay search reveals that you can secure a set of scraper tools for under ten dollars. But I imagine if you're a crafty type you might have suitable tools or stylus type things already?

Since I'm not going to give these a go myself (I have a thousand other projects on my list) I'm going to have a mini-giveaway for the crafty types that follow my blog. If you'd like a chance at winning this and giving it a go, just leave a comment on what you might like to draw or design using it. I will select a winner on the sound of the most interesting thing. There are four useable scraperboards.

To make it worth your crafty while, I might just surprise you with some other crafty odds and ends as well.

Entries close Sunday night 24th June 2012 at midnight.

A little laundry trick, for removing stains....

So I've been doing a bit of laundry lately. Well I do it every day. But what I mean is I've been busy trying to launder some old, delicate and special items with staining. As a lover of vintage pieces and op shop buys there is often the very cheap purchase made in the hope of a little love and elbow grease removing a stain to make a special piece more wearable or useable. I hate to see those pieces sitting on racks not being purchased because people are fearful of stains and not being able to get them out and wasting their money.

So I have a little tip I learnt, or came by, I can't remember how I stumbled upon it, but nonetheless it's worth sharing with you and giving you an easy as tutorial/DIY.

Take a laundry soaking agent, anything like Nappisan (no this is not a sponsored post, just a point of reference) or other nappy soaking agents. Heck you could even try your regular washing powder if you use powder.
Place stained item in laundry tub with a good heaped cap full (1/2 a 3/4 cup) of laundry soaking agent in cover item with warm water.
Let soak for a few hours or even over night. Depending on what I have soaked I have even soaked it for a good day or two. However items with delicate embroidery should be handled with care, embroidery thread colour can start to bleach out. So you can always try this method over short intervals. Perhaps and hour at first.

After item has had a good soak drain water from laundry tub, wring your item out delicately but only enough so the item isn't totally dripping water everywhere. You still want it to very wet as this is a crucial part to this laundry tip working.

You won't be washing the garment yet. Take your item out into the full direct sunlight and lay on a towel. This is where the magic happens, the left over laundry agent in your garment or item and the chemical reaction caused by the sunlight will work extremely effectively at helping to better bleach out stains.

Once item is fully dry you can then wash in the machine, with more powder or soaking agent if you wish. If you're concerned about laundry agent build up run the rinse cycle more than once if necessary. Then dry your garment as normal.
I have used this tip to great success, I can't vouch however for its success on every type of fabric and material and every type of stain. But it is certainly worth a try, if you really fancy a piece and the dollars you're going to part with for it are minimal. If there is still another possible revamp of a garment to be turned into another item if this process doesn't work and you're still with a stain, you're still going to be in front if you're a bit handy with a needle and thread or machine.

So give it a go and let me know if you have much success and if you saved a special piece.

My NON-Wednesday Style Collective......

Moan groan, moan groan. Yawnnnnnnnn.
I have had very little will or time for style this week, with Little V being poorly. She has spent most days on a feed-a-thon which has barely made it necessary for to be wearing much else than a stock standard breastfeeding top. I know boring, boring you say, but I have at least been making the effort with a new head scarf tie or popping on a fav brooch or something.
But yeah, that's the extent of this week, sad but true, but necessary. I was trying to get dressed the other day and I had to put Little V down and she just stood there dropping big, fat, sad, sick tears on the floor. Hence why I've just been whipping on the leggings a vintage cardie and a headscarf, because my hair is lost cause this week.

On another note I must report that Little V's new bed is ever so comfy, it got a trial run last night with her and I in it. Anyways I shall bid you all a good day, since I'm sure this post has thrilled you immensely. I hope you are all well and happy and also I hope I can return to normal, expected, reliable transmission in a few days.

Surprises amongst the treasures.....

If you don't know already the Big V and I had an awesome haul of goodies on the weekend, check some of it out here. Well this morning in a moment of calm (Little V is rather poorly) I had a peak and further rummage through some pieces we bought on the weekend and I came by some unexpected surprises amongst one of the bundles.
This sweet floral oil painting. It's kind of made my day and put a smile on my face. It needs a tiny bit of TLC to remove some brown paper that has stuck to the vase part of the painting......but overall I love it, it's rather simple and sweet.

Before I bid you a good day, please excuse any lack of post or presence around here or visiting your blogs this week. Little V is unwell and we are having a tough time of it, all running on little sleep......three hours broken sleep, uh ha, yep it's a bit killer. At sixteen months this is the first time she has been properly out of sorts, so we're taking it easy.

Flea Market Finds, in the church grounds......

So you all know how I like to bang on about my favourite oppy? Well yesterday they had a garage sale over at the church grounds. What didn't end up selling yesterday is going to mission. To support the cause and to nab a bargain we popped by for a look, as I was mainly hoping to find frames to paint up and help with our decorating efforts at home. Well we got there and we......yes we not just I went a bit nuts.

I can't believe how much we bought and still come home with a few cents (seriously just a few cents) out of fifty dollars.

The greatest score and excitement of the day was to score Little V a bed, it is perfect for how I have been styling her room. Ten dollars thank you very much.........to an old school friend boyfriend who was working the outdoor furniture section. When the Big V went back later in the day to collect the bed, he saw another bed with a perfect Sleepmaker Limited Edition mattress on it. How much do you want for that, he asked? He was told to make an offer. The Big V pulled out what he had floating in his pocket eight dollars........SOLD, thank you very much. Now we have a complete bed with a perfect new mattress for Little V and a spare timber one to do up and keep for another little Vower or pass it on........eighteen dollars for two beds and a mattress, crazy.

But that's not where our buying ended yesterday morning. I nabbed some Johnson love for fifty cents a piece. As well as these other brown cups that I liked the pattern of. Has anyone seen these and know what pattern or marker it is? The cups aren't stamped, but I like them nonetheless.....and they are unconventionally being put to work already.....more about that soon I hope.

There were plenty other finds picked up (not all pictured or mentioned), but Master V did well with a Hot Wheels track (50 cents...thank you very much).....although the Big V has been having so much fun with it too, that I'm not sure now who it was bought for. I managed to pick up one big square frame that needs revamping.......the Big V wanted to know why I had a thing for the twenty odd University Cops pictured in it......umm whatever I hadn't even noticed that was in the frame, I just noticed the potential of the frame. Ohhh and there were plenty other treasures bought home with us.......I've lost track now.

It was such a lovely morning our fifty dollars even managed to see us all fed for a late sausage sizzle breakfast. Whilst I scoffed that down I nabbed a bag of Stanthorpe Apples and some avocados....the yummiest apples around I tell you, I always nab them at markets and road trips. I wish you could have all been there checking out the garage sale with me they even had old church pews for sale, oh and a got this pic of a gorgeous old bed head that they were selling to (my inlaws own very old lounge suite in this style).

What a garage sale huh?

Friday night D & M about my wardrobe......

Firstly excuse the ramblings but it is the end of the week here and it's Friday night, so that's my excuse for the possible long windness of this post. So this morning my day didn't get off to it's normal start with my Little Vowers. I had whining, crying, carry on and demands for lots and lots of extra cuddles. Then it was clear that Master V really needed more sleep (he is getting sick), I finally tucked him back into bed after a back and forth negotiation and a tantrum. Fast forward ten minutes later and he was out to it. So to keep a little more quiet whilst he napped, I took Little V and I off to our bedroom so I could do a much needed reorganise of my side of the wardrobe.

Now something about my wardrobe you might not know is that I have been in a state of rebuild for the last four years. What many of you might not know (or perhaps you do, perhaps you've picked up on mentions here and there or you read my other blog) is that four years ago I was pregnant, it was my first pregnancy (not Master V), and I was pregnant with my Little Vowers sisters. Sisters yes, I was pregnant with identical twin girls. Sadly, horrifically, I tragically lost my girls half way through the pregnancy......I've shared much of my story and journey with them on my other blog. But what this post is about is how this event in my life impacted my wardrobe.

Many may understand and plenty may not that amidst the grief of this happening, and within days of coming home from hospital, I purged my wardrobe of 98% of what I owned, with exception of a few precious vintage and op shop finds I'd had for years. I literally purged it all, right down to my underwear drawer and shoes. Why, you're probably asking? At the time I was undiagnosed with PTSD and OCD, and I had this belief that I couldn't and wouldn't wear any item of clothing I wore during my girls pregnancy ever again. I had this belief that if I wore something I wore with them when pregnant again.......bad things would happen, I believed it would make me feel I would lose other babies and it would happen again. So I purged and I was literally left with next to nothing, so the Big V and I went shopping. I didn't shop for unique pieces, vintage finds, I just bought clothes I didn't care.

So why I'm I telling you this? Well it wasn't until today it dawned on me, how this event and my reaction still has left a huge dent and deficit in my wardrobe, what I want in it, how I want it to look, how I want it to make me feel. Today I realised that from that purge and replacement process four years on, I retain one item from the replacement process. Yeah that's right I've cycled through and ever so slowly added some old faithfuls to the wardrobe to mix with op shop finds. Many of you have seen my style collective posts I've been doing recently, the truth of what you're seeing is that I'm making that style happen on a small wardrobe. I just keep mixing and mixing, trying to make things work.

TODAY though I decided it's time, it's time for me to reclaim my wardrobe back. It's time for me to have MORE vintage frocks, it's time to honour the rest of me BETTER then it has been and I have been doing in the last four years. Don't get me wrong I'm happy how I style things now, I'm happy in that, I'm confident in that. It's just that it's time for ME........to get my frock finding on. It's time for me to have that full wearable vintage wardrobe to indulge myself in MORE. It might sound materialistic considering I have a wee, little head start on a collection because of my opping habits......but I'm not making apologises for it. I feel as though I deserve this for me.............there is a lot of empty hanging space in my wardrobe and lots of empty hangers.

If you've read until now, I thank you for listening to my ramblings it's been good for the soul.

Apparently some people think I'm crazy.....

So I was out the other day doing what I do. You know, checking out the oppies. When I became the subject of laughter and conversation. Why? Because I left the house looking like this!

Yep that's right, like this.
I gave you a little sneak peak the other day, so the pattern might look familiar.
Apparently my idea of starting new trends wearing vintage aprons in public, isn't for everyone's liking. To which I stated to the giggly volunteer folk that this is how I roll. To which I then also added the print was too nice, bright and happy not share it with everyone.
Oh well you might not get it but it's my thing, and I'm sticking with it.  Be warned giggly volunteer folk, I might walk in wearing a vintage nightie next!

My Wednesday Style Collective.....

You know how I was complaining of feeling icky on last weeks style collective post he other day? Well I went on feeling ick for several more days, and with guest dropping in the other day I put together this outfit quickly, so I would look a little fresher than I was feeling and for comfort.

Layered Long Sleeve Tee and Tank - Retail from Kmart
Graduated Dyed Skirt - Op Shopped
Flower Brooch - made myself
On the wrist - with leather plaited one was gifted, friendship bracelet was hidden in the pocket of an op shop find years ago and finally my favourite my pearls a gift from the Big V on our wedding day thirteen years ago.

But don't worry about me I've slowly started to pick up and feel better, and I stepped out just yesterday with Beverley. Beverley who, you ask? It's this lovely vintage sweater I'm wearing. When I discover a little vintage score like this with the name of a previous owner on the tag, they then are referred to as such.

Everyone meet Beverley - Op Shopped
Jeans - done the rounds
Belt - Op Shopped
Shoes - Retail
Scarf - Op Shopped

Who do you have hanging out in your wardrobe?

Ahhh what a weekend......

Have you missed me?

This weekend just passed where I live has been a long weekend for the Queens Birthday. I've been lapping up everything the weekend put on offer, family time, catching up with friends, eating, drinking, reading, crafting, creating and plenty more. I decided to step away from both of my blogs over the long weekend, to make the most of everything. You see the Big V runs a business with his dad and he rarely if ever has anytime off during the year, but when long weekends come around it's so nice to have the extra day to be together as a family and not to feel rushed and pushed by everything and everyone on a standard two day weekend.

There where so many highlights to the weekend, two of which being some funds I made towards some My Vintage Vow dreams AND some awesome vintagey goodness that was gifted to over the weekend. That's right people I barely left home this weekend and I made some dollars and vintage scores seemingly fell into my lap in the comfort of my living room.

I had so hoped to share better pics but with not the best light due to weather at the moment I'm just going to have to tease you with a sneak peak. You know I love a sneak peak, I'm overdue to tease you.

More of this goodness in its glory coming. Would you like to guess what these will be revealed to be or what I'm going to do with them or some of them?

Little boy waistcoat revamp.....

In my op shopping trips I frequently see little boy waistcoats going for next to nothing. I imagine they are often bought for a little boy for a formal occasion like a wedding or christening and never worn again. So when I saw this little waistcoat with the weird bunny appliqué recently I knew there was a revamping project in the waiting.

I find it terribly hard to find vintage wearable items for boys of Master V's size, so now that we are working our way through and past all our hand me downs from friends, I'm now starting to piece together some unique pieces for his wardrobe.

So with a few buttons and some off cuts of denim from some old jean leg bottoms and a needle and thread, I was in business and whipped up this little revamp number last night.

I'm really pleased with the result, so is my little guy he was eager to put it on this morning. The little photo shoot proved a bit of a challenge this morning, so I hope I've done justice in showing off my efforts. I even used a bright red thread to stitch on the denim on the pocket trim and the feature piece down and over his shoulder .

I will be definitely be nabbing more boys formal vests when I come by them, a little revamp job would make an inexpensive and unique gift for a little guy don't you think?

My Wednesday Style Collective......

So going with my make an effort and feel better mantra, when last Friday morning came around......boy did I need it. I woke feeling icky in the tummy and overall pretty crap to put it bluntly. It was definitely one of those days to tempt me to put the yoga pants on and feel sorry for myself. But I sucked it up and whipped together this outfit for comfort and style. Comfort being high on the agenda for the day, but I did need a dash of style to run errands with the little Vowers in tow......there are no sick days and lounging about when you're a stay at home mum. So here I am in all my feeling icky glory.

Maxi Wrap Skirt - Op Shop
Long Sleeve Basic Tee - Retail
Denim Vest - Gifted I think, I can't remember would you believe?
Ankle Wedge Boots - Retail, recently their getting plenty of action
Necklace - is actually Baltic Amber, is great for healing properties Little V wears one for teething, I bought it from a friend.

Monday morning rolled around and feeling a little perkier, but still wanting and needing easy comfortable style this combo came together quickly.

Jeans - old Ralph Lauren pair that has done the rounds between my friend and I
Tee - Op Shopped
Waistcoat - Op Shopped
Belt - Op Shopped
Shoes - Loafer style just bought recently retail, comfy

I don't know about you but my favourite combo was the first outfit, my icky day effort!

Weekend-ness.....

So the weekends plans of getting up early and along to a local carboot sale to sell some household wares, were literally rained out. It's been raining like crazy on and off here for days. Of course now it's Monday morning there isn't a cloud in the sky.

Instead this weekend I took an opportunity to start dabbling with re-opening an on-line store. Some of you may remember last year I still had a madeit.com store. I eventually let the remaining handmade items run their time out and decided to close up shop. Basically my old store location doesn't allow you to sell vintage clothing items, only handmade items which is well and good. However I dabble in both areas with handmade wares I make and vintage items, and I want a one stop shop location.......so it's off to Etsy I go.

Many of you also know that I've recently tried the weekend market scene, but it's not always easy with two young Vowers for me to get along. So in between dipping my toes in here and there at the moment with markets when I can, I'm going to fill the gaps in with Etsy.

But despite all that news there, the weekend had it's inspired moments and I have yet another little project to add to my list. Time permitting this week amongst everything else, I will bring to you a little boy, turn little funky mister vest revamp for those who are interested in a little revamping and up cycling fashion for the little men in their life.

Flea Market Finds, bits of randomness.....

A bit of randomness to share with you all today. These are all other bits and pieces I've picked up recently, that deserve a wee mention in a post, and not to be out shone.
Another children's book, when I got home and checked out this book online I discovered that I had picked up a collectible title, I was rather pleased. Who would of thunk, without even trying I've started to develop a flare for nabbing collectible and semi-valuable books this year, so far. I rather like the illustrations.
What about these two sheets? I've got a bit of a project I want to start working on with vintage sheets. So keep me in mind if you're having a destash. I love the colour of them of course, greens with touches of floral.
Finally here is another little item that has been gifted to me recently, this old New Zealand souvenir scarf. I just love the imagery.

A Vintage Affair: Sheri Bomb - Guest Post

I am so super excited about having Sheri from her appropriately named blog Sheri Bomb join me today to talk about her love of vintage. I love Sheri's style, she is a vintage frock loving lady with a love of Rockabilly and Kustom Kulture. She is ever so sweet, and has awesome ink work adorning her gorgeous self and I'm lucky enough to have met her in person. In fact she's a follow Queensland blogger, so we get facetime at blogger meet ups and I always adore how she styles herself.
So be sure to pop on over to her blog after you've had a read of her Vintage Affair and immerse yourself in all that is Sheri Bomb, Rockabilly and Kustom Kulture.

***************************************************************
What is it about vintage/thrifted pieces that sends your heart a flutter?
I have to admit, I’m prone to flights of fancy. Perhaps that’s why I’ve always been a writer. I love to make up stories. The thing that really gets me going about vintage is imagining the life these pieces had before they made it to me. The life their previous owners lead. Akin to childhood fantasies of really being a princess who was adopted by the wrong family, my vintage fantasies are probably way off the mark. But they’re romantic and fun anyway!
What's your vintage love affair for, clothing, homewares, art etc? Why?
This one is a little bit difficult although I finally managed to decide on clothing. Mostly because I love clothes in general, so it’s pretty hard to go past pretty dresses and amazing vintage clothing. That being said, I do really love vintage homewares as well. But then again I also really like nice homewares so maybe it’s just that. Oh what a complicated creature I am – don’t make me choose!
Favourite era? Why?
Favourite would have to be the 50s and early 60s although I also enjoy the 30s and 40s. The 50s are my favourite though because I am a huge fan of the fashion, the music and the cars of the era and it was also a particularly exciting time in a cultural sense. Aside from the aesthetic value, I also find the 50s a really interesting time in history.
Is it all about vintage for you or do you like to mash up with current trends? How?
I’m definitely a little from column A and a little from column B. I wouldn’t say I necessarily keep up with current ‘trends’ I pretty much tend to gravitate to what appeals to me, on trend or not. But as much as I enjoy the influences of the 50s throughout my lifestyle, I definitely like to keep things interesting by mixing old with new and challenging myself to create a ‘retro’ look with all new fashion. There is so much great repro fashion available these days, it would be a shame not to enjoy them too. Afterall, one day we will be nostalgia for now!
Is price an object when you find a piece to swoon over?
Oh this is a tough one! Is price ever an issue when you find THE one? I am actually a very budget conscious lass and am quite discerning about how much I will spend on what. That being said, when I find something amazing I simply MUST have it, even if it is much more than I would normally spend. Especially when it comes to vintage, it’s not like you can just walk into a shop, choose your size and voila. Sizing is different and certain styles, fabrics and silhouettes aren’t available ‘on tap’ like mass produced clothing so when you find an amazing piece that is hard to find and just happens to be in your size it’s pretty hard to turn it down.

Ringing in my ears.....

Sometimes things are just too cute not to share, no matter how big or small they are. I've never really been into novelty type earrings, just not my thing. But maybe I can start something with these, perfectly sweet little blue old style telephones.

A recent little score for next to nothing. I love them.

Speaking of telephones I'm ignoring mine, as I'm off later this morning to take my little Vowers on an adventure to a cafe near the hinterland where there are turtles, ducks and goats to feed, and all sorts of other glorious things and grassy areas to run about in.
Now to pray to the rain gods to hold off on any further showers, we need this outing today.

Hoping all your days are filled with little treasures and not just of the op shop kind.

My Wednesday Style Collective.....

So I've been thinking how much I've been enjoying doing more frequent style posts. It's not necessarily just the posting of them, I think it's more the case of how making the effort most days to dress up more makes me feel. It's so easy being a stay at home mum to make the decision to bum around in house clothes or even pjs all day long some days. But what I've noticed for some time now is making the effort with an outfit, makes me feel so much better. I feel more creative, more inspired, happier and awake (even if Little V hasn't given me much sleep the night before). It's like one of best little gifts I can give to my soul each day.

So to capture the fun I'm having, I've decided that each Wednesday I'm going to do a little collective round up post of some outfits I've had fun with during the week (Wednesday to Wednesday.......but I may creep an extra post in here and there some weeks). I'll feature a minimum of two outfits, and maximum of.......who knows (I'll keep it reasonable) per post. I hope it will be fun and inspire me (and maybe you) to try even more things with my wardrobe (but your own wardrobe of course) and making things pull second and triple duties. I want to see how I go, making the most of things.

So we are with two outfits I've had fun with this week, making the most of layers and my summer, spring wardrobe too....just days shy of winter officially starting in Australia.

Blue Cotton Jumpsuit - Gifted/Hand-me-down
Cardie - Revamped recently by me
Belt - Op Shop
Shoes - retail

I was really comfy in this outfit, which was great considering I had a play date with a friend and my little Vowers that day. Then this is another outfit I've played with a variation of twice this week.

Skirt - is an old Sportscraft brand, op shopped
Long Sleeve Basic Tee - retail
Belt - Op Shop
Leopard Print Wedges - Op Shop

So there you have it, two new combos from my current wardrobe I hadn't tried previously until this week.

Facebook Baby and Children's Sale....

If you don't follow my Facebook page you may not know that I'm currently amidst efforts to post a treasure trove of vintage Children's and Baby items for sale.
So if you're in the market for something special for a little person, please pop on over and have a look. Even if you're not in the market, perhaps you know someone that is, or you just want to reminisce about what you and your siblings wore and had.

Please be patient as I do have more to add.....clothing, shoes, books and more.

Monster sale, turns up little finds......

Saturday morning is always a busy morning in our house. It's go, go, go pretty much from the moment we wake to get to swimming lessons for the wee little Vowers on time. But this past Saturday I was determined to make the morning fuller than normal by insisting to the Big V that we would check out Lifelines $2 Monster Sale at Parklands, after swimming. You might remember I went last year, I go most times they have them on, generally it's twice a year.

With my granny trolley bumping away behind me I thought I was in for another big haul this time. But no such luck, it's ok though I was being a lot more selective this time. I was also especially wanting to nab the little ones some knock about warm winter gear for at home. But would you believe I was barely able rustle up that. I did nab this rather cute hand knitted (its acrylic wool) pullover for Little V, it's kind of too cute just for home.

I did rustle up just a few other special finds including a vintage maxi, but overall I left with my trolley rather empty. The outing was made rather sweet though , to see the Little Vowers having a ball outside rolling and running up and down the grassy hills outside. I joined in chasing and racing them up and down to the chorus of giggles.

So I may of only come home with some little finds, especially for little people but the morning certainly put smiles on the faces of my Little Vowers and mine.

Flea Market Finds, perfectly sweet....

I have been incredibly blessed this week, with my finds, but also to be gifted some special pieces. Since I have such a varied haul of things this week I really would just like to share these sweet treasures for now that I was gifted and I'll share other finds during the week.

It actually means the world to me to have been gifted these pieces, which are now in Little V's room. They are 30 years old, and are utterly perfect for her room.

I'm particularly smitten with the pig.

There is an incredible backstory that comes with these pieces, the story is an emotional one and isn't mine to share, and I respect that. But the gifting of these treasures to me, had the giver of these treasures in tears knowing that they would coming to a home where they would be loved, cherished and appreciated.

I've missed out on Flea Market Finds a fair bit over the last month as my op shopping jaunts have been low key, but here I am and I will be linking up with Sophie at Her Library Adventures. I look forward to see some of you over there. But for now I'm off to flip the pages of a Mills and Boons I picked up this week, whilst sipping a cup of tea. I've never read one before (love stories aren't my thing) but when I read the first few sentences and how over the top it was with innuendo.....I belly laughed. I've just have to read it now to see how ridiculous this gets.

I'll leave you with these words:
From her bedroom window, Melody Sands looked down at the man working in the rose bed. He moved with a quick energy that intrigued her - from The Million-Dollar Marriage, Mills & Boon.
